Is there really any debate when it comes to liquid vitamins vs. pills? It’s funny to me that when I tell people I work for a “liquid vitamin company” many are still surprised to learn there is such a thing as liquid vitamins. I’ve been working for Liquid Health for so many years it just seems like such a normal concept, it’s strange to me when people just don’t get why taking a vitamin in liquid form makes sense. So after explaining this idea again recently, I decided to write about it.
Liquid vitamins are not some new fad, though they have grown in popularity and availability since they first hit the market. Much has been written and discussed comparing liquid vitamins vs. pills, powders, tablets and other solid vitamin forms. The idea behind liquid vitamins is that by taking vitamins in a form that’s easily assimilated into your body you’re able to see better results by avoiding the arduous task of your body digesting a pill. A good example of this is a liquid vitamin D vs. pill. When it comes to a liquid vs pill vitamins, digestion of a pill vitamin can be really hard on your body and in many instances your body does not receive the full dose of nutrients before the pill is passed through your system.
According to the Physician’s Desk Reference, when taking a sublingual liquid vitamin the absorption rate is 50%. Other studies have reported absorption rates as high as 85%-90% for some liquid vitamins. The absorption rate for taking a pill or tablet is only 10%. This stat alone would tend to lead one to choosing liquid vitamins over pills. So when you think about it, it may actually be more cost effective in the end to take liquid vitamins because your body as actually absorbing a higher percentage of the vitamins per dose. Another benefit of taking vitamins in liquid form is that they can be easily added to your morning drink or smoothie, making these liquid vitamins ideal for people who have a hard time taking pills. For these people, there really isn’t a question when it comes to choosing a liquid vitamin or pill. There’s just the solution, which as we all know a solution comes in liquid form.
There are a number of reasons to consider taking your vitamins in liquid form instead of pills, the ones I’ve shared today are just a couple of these reasons. There are a number of liquid vitamin supplements available on the market to meet a variety of wellness needs, so make sure to do your research and consult with your doctor if you have any questions or concerns about your vitamin and supplement routine. Of course, for those of you that have been using liquid vitamins for a few years, we know how you feel…it sure is nice to get rid of those large, difficult to swallow vitamin pills!
